Gevrey-Chambertin 2023 - Henri Magnien

This 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin from Domaine Henri Magnien is a Burgundy red wine made from Pinot Noir, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. Led by Charles Magnien since 2009, the family-run estate carries on a tradition of expertise passed down through twelve generations and cultivates several plots situated at the foot of the Gevrey-Chambertin hillsides. This cuvée blends grapes from various ‘lieux-dits’ within the appellation to express the diversity of the terroirs and the character of the village. The 2023 vintage reveals an expressive nose of cherry, raspberry and black fruits, accompanied by floral, peppery and slightly herbaceous notes. On the palate, this 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin is juicy and well-structured, with generous body, silky tannins and a freshness that balances the ripeness of the fruit. Ageing in French oak barrels complements the wine without masking its aromatic expression. The lingering finish carries through the fruity and spicy notes, with a fine balance between suppleness and character. This Burgundy red wine will age well in the cellar for several years and will pair perfectly with beef bourguignon, a roast rack of lamb, poultry with mushrooms or mature cheeses.
