This 2011 Échézeaux Grand Cru Les Loachausses from Domaine Anne Gros is a great Burgundy red wine made from Pinot Noir grapes, from the Échézeaux Grand Cru appellation in the Côte de Nuits. The Les Loachausses plot, acquired by the estate in 2007, lies on deep, stony brown soil at the foot of the hillside and faces north-south. These characteristics give rise to an Échézeaux Grand Cru that is at once rich, delicate and well-structured, with particularly ripe tannins. The 2011 vintage reveals aromas of red cherry, red berries and rose petals on the nose, accompanied by peppery and mineral notes. On the palate, this 2011 Pinot Noir from Anne Gros offers a silky, dense texture, underpinned by lovely freshness and fine tannins, with a lingering finish featuring hints of red fruit and spice. As it matures in the bottle, this Bourgogne Grand Cru may also develop notes of violet and pepper. It is the perfect accompaniment to a leg of lamb, a fillet of beef, a slow-cooked meat dish, delicate game or an Époisses.
