This 2015 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru from Domaine Jean-Jacques Confuron is a great Burgundy red wine made from Pinot Noir, from the Romanée-Saint-Vivant appellation in the Côte de Nuits, in Vosne-Romanée. Situated below the famous Romanée-Conti, this Grand Cru is planted on deep brown clay-limestone soils and benefits from old vines, some of which were planted in 1922, lending the wine concentration and complexity. The 2015 vintage reveals an intense, spicy nose blending ripe plum, black cherry, violet and lavender, with ageing gradually bringing out more complex nuances. On the palate, this 2015 Romanée-Saint-Vivant from Jean-Jacques Confuron offers a rich, structured body, a silky texture and pronounced tannins, underpinned by lovely freshness and a particularly long finish. This Burgundy Grand Cru has significant ageing potential and will benefit from further development in the cellar. It is the ideal accompaniment to a truffle-stuffed chicken, a pigeon with chestnuts, a tournedos Rossini or delicate game.
