This 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru La Petite Chapelle from Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py is a great Burgundy red wine made from Pinot Noir, in the heart of the Côte de Nuits. The La Petite Chapelle vineyard is one of the Premiers Crus of Gevrey-Chambertin and produces particularly well-structured wines, with a dense body and excellent ageing potential. Domaine Bernard Dugat-Py tends its vines by hand, with limited yields and extended ageing in oak barrels, in order to preserve the wine’s concentration and expression of the terroir. The 2008 vintage, now fully mature, reveals a complex nose blending black fruits – blueberry, blackcurrant and cherry – with floral, smoky and spicy notes. On the palate, this 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru offers a full-bodied and concentrated texture, underpinned by powerful yet well-integrated tannins and a freshness that brings balance to the whole. The lingering finish carries through the notes of ripe fruit and spices, with a character typical of Pinot Noir from the Côte de Nuits. This 2008 Gevrey-Chambertin La Petite Chapelle will pair perfectly with a cut of beef, a rack of lamb, roast poultry or game birds.
