Muscadet Gabbro Clos des Bouquinardières 2022 - Jérome Bretaudeau

This 2022 Muscadet Gabbro Clos des Bouquinardières is a fine white wine from the Loire Valley, produced by Jérôme Bretaudeau from Melon de Bourgogne, the iconic grape variety of Muscadet. This single-vineyard cuvée comes from the Clos des Bouquinardières, situated in Gorges, on a rare gabbro terroir – a magmatic rock that lends the wine a mineral structure and a lovely verticality. Cultivated using biodynamic methods, the vines are harvested by hand, after which the grapes are vinified using indigenous yeasts. The Muscadet Gabbro 2022 is then aged for an extended period on its lees in underground vats, allowing the wine to develop body and complexity whilst retaining its freshness. On the nose, this Muscadet Clos des Bouquinardières 2022 reveals aromas of white fruit and citrus, accompanied by herbaceous notes and a mineral character. On the palate, the Melon de Bourgogne is straightforward, finely crafted and full-bodied, with precise texture, lovely tension and a long, salty, iodine-tinged finish. This terroir-driven Muscadet will pair perfectly with oysters, shellfish, crustaceans, grilled fish or simply a seafood platter, and will age well in the cellar for several years.
