Vin de France Solera 2014 - Jérome Bretaudeau

This Vin de France Solera Base 2014 is a dry white wine produced by Jérôme Bretaudeau at the Domaine de Bellevue, in the Nantes region, from Chardonnay grapes. This unique cuvée is based on the 2014 vintage and follows the solera principle, involving the gradual blending of several vintages, which allows part of the wine to be retained whilst incorporating more recent harvests. The Chardonnay grapes come from vines planted on granite and quartz soils and cultivated using organic and biodynamic methods. The wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and then aged for several years in oak barrels, with younger wines added regularly. On the nose, this 2014 Solera from Jérôme Bretaudeau reveals aromas of citrus and ripe fruit, accompanied by notes of caramel, nuts and a slight oxidative character. On the palate, this Loire Chardonnay offers a rich, textured body, supported by lovely acidity and a long, salty and lingering finish. This white Vin de France, with its distinctive character, pairs equally well with an aperitif as it does with poultry in cream sauce, foie gras, smoked salmon or fish in sauce.
