This magnum of Vin de Pays de l’Hérault 2024 is a fine red wine from the Languedoc, produced by Mas de Daumas Gassac in the Upper Gassac Valley in Aniane. The 2024 vintage is dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Pinot Noir, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and several rarer grape varieties such as Nielluccio, Montepulciano, Saperavi, Carménère, Tempranillo, Abouriou and Tannat. The grapes are harvested by hand from red glacial gravel soils, then vinified using slow extraction, prolonged fermentation and maceration, followed by ageing for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels. This Mas de Daumas Gassac Red 2024 has a powerful nose characterised by cherry and blackcurrant, whilst on the palate it offers lovely freshness, red fruit and a supple, velvety tannic structure. This 2024 Vin de Pays de l’Hérault red has an ageing potential of 15 to 20 years under the right conditions, whilst it can also be enjoyed younger for its fruity character. This magnum of Mas de Daumas Gassac pairs particularly well with a rib of beef, a rack of lamb, game or slow-cooked dishes, and is best served at between 18 and 19 °C.
