This 2024 Vin de Pays de l’Hérault is a red wine from the Languedoc produced by Mas de Daumas Gassac, an iconic estate in the Upper Gassac Valley in Aniane. The 2024 vintage is predominantly made from Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Pinot Noir and several rarer varieties, with the grapes harvested by hand. The winemaking process involves slow extraction, gentle pumping over and a long fermentation and maceration period, followed by ageing for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels. The red glacial gravel terroir gives the Vin de Pays de l’Hérault 2024 a beautiful expression of fruit and a structure suited to ageing. On the nose, this Mas de Daumas Gassac Rouge 2024 reveals aromas of cherry and blackcurrant, whilst on the palate it opens with red fruits, offering a structured body, supple tannins and lingering freshness. This fine red wine from the Languedoc can be enjoyed whilst still young to savour its fruit, but also has significant ageing potential. Served at around 18 °C, it pairs particularly well with red meats, lamb, game, stews and mature cheeses.
