This 2020 Champagne Roses de Jeanne La Bolorée is a Blanc de Blancs crafted by Cédric Bouchard from Pinot Blanc, a particularly rare grape variety in Champagne. This single-vineyard cuvée comes from the lieu-dit La Bolorée, a small plot of around 0.22 hectares situated in the Côte des Bar, on soils comprising a mixture of clay, sand and chalk. The Pinot Blanc from Champagne is vinified here using Cédric Bouchard’s plot-based, minimally interventionist approach, which prioritises the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir. The La Bolorée 2020 reveals a precise nose with aromas of pear, citrus – notably lime – ripe yellow fruit and white flowers, complemented by notes of almond and gingerbread. On the palate, this Blanc de Blancs Champagne is full-bodied, creamy and concentrated, underpinned by lively acidity and a chalky, briny structure that lends great freshness to the finish. Disgorged in 2024 and with no dosage, it retains a clear and direct expression of Pinot Blanc. Served at around 9 °C, this 2020 Roses de Jeanne La Bolorée will pair perfectly with scallops, fine fish, poultry in cream sauce or seafood.
