This 2021 Roses de Jeanne La Haute Lemblé Champagne is a vintage Blanc de Blancs crafted by Cédric Bouchard from Chardonnay grapes grown on a tiny plot of just 0.12 hectares in Celles-sur-Ource, in the Côte des Bar. The only Chardonnay in the Roses de Jeanne range, this single-vineyard Champagne highlights the expression of the terroir and the grape variety through a minimally interventionist approach. The 2021 vintage, marked by frost and very low yields, has produced a concentrated and structured wine with lovely tension. On the nose, this Blanc de Blancs La Haute Lemblé 2021 reveals aromas of lemon, grapefruit, pear, white flowers and ripe fruit, accompanied by pastry and hazelnut notes. On the palate, this Champagne Chardonnay displays a dense and precise texture, underpinned by lively acidity, a fine mousse and a chalky, mineral backbone. The long, briny finish evolves into citrus and brioche notes. This Cédric Bouchard Champagne is produced without dosage, to preserve the wine’s purity and the expression of the specific vineyard site. It pairs perfectly with seafood, raw or grilled fish, scallops, poultry with morel mushrooms or mature Comté cheese.
