This 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Truffière is a great Burgundy white wine produced by Domaine Benoît Ente from Chardonnay grapes grown in a vineyard of around one hectare situated on stratified limestone soil in Puligny-Montrachet. The old vines produce a precise and taut Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru, with a nose characterised by white-fleshed fruits, citrus, white flowers and fresh almond, accompanied by delicate mineral and slightly toasty notes. On the palate, this Burgundy white wine offers a silky, concentrated texture, underpinned by lovely freshness and a mineral tension that lends great precision to the whole, with a long, briny and lingering finish. Benoît Ente’s winemaking approach, combining oak ageing and tank maturation, preserves the balance and purity of the Puligny-Montrachet Chardonnay whilst fully expressing the richness of the La Truffière terroir. Ideal with sole meunière, fine fish, shellfish, poultry in cream sauce or gourmet dishes, this 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru will appeal to lovers of great Burgundy white wines, Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune and rare, mineral-driven vintages with excellent ageing potential.
